mpeg 2 option missing in AE CS6
When I go to render a movie in CS6 in the output module settings drop down the option for mpeg 2 is missing.

I experience the same thing. As to why Adobe chose to remove those, I don’t know.
Adobe is up front with the render queue being a stripped down version of Adobe Media Encoder. It does have practical limitations like the lack of two-pass encoding.
You can always drag your comp from the project library in After Effects and drop it into Adobe Media Encoder if you need to get to MPEG2.
