    Hey All,

Have a client who uses iTunes for all their video. When I render out videos in Vegas to MP4 (using main concept), iTunes will not load them. If I run them through Handbrake, they work fine.
Does Vegas not use h.264 or what may be the issue here.
My biggest client, so would love to avoid another step in post.

    Thanks in advance!

Use Sony AVC instead and you will have no issues at all.
I have always prefer it over Mainconcept’s.

Sony doesn’t have some of the adjustments that Mainconcept does like 2 pass that I use and such.
Also the WHY does it not work is kinda what I am looking for.

    Thanks!

The WHY you are looking for is an iTunes issue.
The thing to do then is to find out what are their exact and detailed video
    requirements for uploading!

If I run them through Handbrake, they work fine.

If Handbrake works, why not use it? It’s a much better encoder than MC, especially at low bit rates. You can do 2 pass encoding as well. There is even a script that permits one-click rendering from Vegas. https://www.vegasvideo.de/vegas-2-handbrake-en

Exactly Wayne! I also pointed out that exact link to the Handbrake script
to you in a previous thread Scott.

Because one doesn’t do the editing in Handbrake that you do in Vegas guys!!

Not every video is straight from raw footage to MP4 finished edit.

Surprised you guys didn’t realize that!

These were VHS transfers with color correction, noise reduction and pan/crop adjustments.

I will look into the scripting provided.

    Thanks guys!

I think its YOU that has a very basic misunderstanding. You DO the editing in Vegas as always, but RENDER in Handbrake rather than using either Mainconcept or Sony AVC–simple as that.

No, You are the one who is failing to realize what we are telling you!
You do the editing in Vegas and render out as you normally would, but
this time its via Handbrake. That’s what the script does that we are
    pointing out to you.

Yes, I am seeing that now. You know, not everyone is up on scripting and making it so one program works with another in this manner. I see what you are saying now, but that doesn’t mean that it is always clear at first.

    Appreciate the input.

[Scott Francis] “Have a client who uses iTunes for all their video. When I render out videos in Vegas to MP4 (using main concept), iTunes will not load them.”

What version of Vegas Pro are you using?

What render template are you using?

Have you tried the Apple iPad/iPhone 4 720p30 Video template? That plays back fine in iTunes on my Mac.

Is your client using a PC or a Mac?

    What version of iTunes?

What version of Mac OS X? or PC Windows?

If they are using a really old version of iTunes on Windows XP that’s a lot different problem than if they are using iTunes 12.3 on Mac OS X 10.11.3.

[Scott Francis] “Does Vegas not use h.264 or what may be the issue here.”

I’m guessing the issue is the render template that you are using and not the MainConcept AVC encoder itself. You also didn’t say what version of Vegas Pro you are using. Older versions didn’t have the Apple HD templates.
