Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy mp4 on the web

    hi there

I exported from FCP intp mp4 using Compressor. The setting is for PAL via cable (streaming). The file has the QT icon and the video looks good.

But when I upload it to the web server it loses the QT icon and when I download it it comes as text.

What can I do about it?

    Thanks for your help.

Can’t anybody help me? Whatever Compressor outputs as mp4 is useless as soon as it is on my web server.

    Hey PJ hope this helps…

With the new QT formats for mp4 and h264 the filetypes need to be setup on your webserver.

Contact your webserver admin and ask them to change the mime types for extensions .mp4 and .m4v so that they call the quicktime plugin instead of having the browser display them as text.

If this is not an option for you, then use the MacOS File -> Create Archive command to .zip the file and upload it then. This workaround will allow your viewer to download the file then unzip it on their desktop for playback.

    Good luck!
