    Please help me.

I am trying to edit MPEG-4 footage that I transfered to my Macbook Pro via XDCam (filmed with Sony EX1) on FCP but when I attempt to open the footage in FCP it says ‘General Error’. With Q-time player it also does not work and says some of the footage is not readable. I can play it in VLC though.

    Details of Q-times:
    MPEG-4 Movie
    Appox 80MB each

Looking forward to hearing any explanations!!

    Thank you, from Stella.

You need to download the Sony XDCAM plugin for FCP… then you’ll have a new command in the file import menu to import XDCAM…

    It’s here:https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-software-model-PDZKP1.aspx

Have you tried MPEG Streamclip? It’s a shareware program that does a great job of preparing stuff to be edited in FCP. I use it to convert DVD I’ve burned into DV QT movies. Works great. I don’t work for them or know them or anything, just thought it might solve your problem.
