MP4 and DVD Architect Pro 5 – no audio
I have rendered some clips in Sony Vegas 12 Pro into Main Concept AV/AAC (*mp4, *.avc.) internet HD 1080p, and also into AppleTV 720p. The result. title.mp4, has both video and audio and plays just fine in VLC media player. But DVD Architect will not recognize the audio portion of the render. If I render to *.avi format, DVD Architect does recognize the audio, but the image is degraded. (The originals are clips from YouTube and some sections copied off of a DVD.)
I’m sure I’m missing some simple solution but after hours working on this I’m calling for help. In advance, thank you.

If this is for an SD DVD, you need to render your video as an mpeg-2 file and your audio as either a WAV or AC-3 file. Give both the same name and render them to the same folder. That way when you load the video file into DVDA the audio file will automatically follow. The bitrate used will depend on the length of your video. If it’s less than 70 min. I use a custom CBR of 8,000,000. Anything longer and I use a bitrate calculator to determine optimum 2-pass settings.

Thank you, Mike. Does that mean I need to render in two different passes? One for audio, one for video?

One more question: you write, “The bitrate used will depend on the length of your video. If it’s less than 70 min. I use a custom CBR of 8,000,000.” Where and how do I set the CBR to 8,000,000? My video is 24 minutes long, but near the end of burning, DVD Architect stopped because something (I don’t remember what and didn’t write it down) is too large.

I’m not in front of my computer right now so this is from memory. When you go to render click the word Custom. On the screen that comes up select CBR and change the value to 8,000,000. You can save this as a preset by choosing a name in the box at the very top of this screen and saving it.

I finally found a much simpler way to burn a project to DVD: do it directly in Sony Vegas Pro: Tools/Burn Disk/DVD. The software does all the necessary rendering and then burns the disk. Easy.
