    Hello,

I’m trying to render an avi file with an mp3 audio track with Vegas Pro 8.0 but the best I can choose is 56 kbps (which is rubbish).
If I only render the mp3 file (file format is set to: MP3 Audio (*.mp3)), it works fine. Here is the dialog:
    Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
How can I access this dialog box while making an avi file?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I had similar problem years ago, the solution was to install the FHG Radium mp3 codec, and choose that one.

That was long ago, so i can’t remember where I downloaded it from; google for it, or contact me private if you want me to post it to you (kovacsltmeister at gmail dot com).

    Regards

    K.L.

I installed the FHG Radium MP3 codec v1.263 and now there are two “MPEG Layer-3” audio codecs and one of them contains higher bitrates as well. However, if I choose anything higher than 56 kbps, it says “An error occured while opening a codec.”. If the bitrate is <= 56 kbps, then it's fine. The real solution would be to use Sony's built-in mp3 codec but I don't know how to access that. (I could render the video and the audio separately and then put together with VirtualDub but that's just stupid, there should be a smarter workaround.)
