  MP2 to Quicktime conversion

  Hi,

  Not sure whether Compression Techniques would be a more appropriate forum to post this:

  I’m trying to bring some 25 FPS 720×540 MPEG-2 MUXED .mov files into a 29.97 Avid project– for the sake of making a hi-quality YouTube/web video which will include effects, etc.

  Avid would not accept these files, so I used Sorenson Squeeze with a 1:1 Avid Codec to 29.97– and the footage looks very aliased on the horizontal lines.

  I’ve searched various forums for some better hints at how to handle this… probably something obvious… any good ideas very appreciated. Also– I’d love to get some more in-depth and formidable information about how the various Codecs compress and decompress in Avid and/or Sorrenson. Tired of trial-and-error learning, ready to be very nerdy w this stuff. Any books/website recommendations??
