I know, it seems like this post should probably be somewhere else, but here’s the story: client sent me an mp2 audio file, which i opened on my PC and it sounded fine. Sent it to my Mac . . . and FCP won’t accept it at all. Thought maybe iMovie would import it and convert it, so i went out and got iLife ’08 (my iLife ’04’s never reloaded after my last clean install). Everything installed beautifully, and i remembered again why i like Mac’s so much…double-click on iMovie and now i can’t run it because my new better faster graphics card (that i needed to better run FCP and Motion) is not compatible with “Quartz Extreme” (needed for iMovie). So, now i can’t use iMovie, and see no way of converting this mp2 audio clip.

I tried iTunes, but it wouldn’t play it either.

    Any ideas?

    thanks again!

hmmm…there must be something therapeutic about actually posting things here, because right after i posted my mp2 problem, “MPEG Streamclip” jumped into my little pinhead. I demuxed the mp2 audio file to aiff there and all is well…but I would still really like to be able to use the ’08 iMovie and am curious about this Quartz Extreme deal if any of you know anything about it…

    thanks again!
