Does anyone have a suggestion on how to simulate a series of pulses moving along a line in one direction. I’m trying to create a mood of electricity moving down a wire. The pulses will have to do a sharp 90+ degree turn. This is all being done on top of an existing photograph.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Draw a mask that follows the desired path, then apply Effect>Render>Vegas. Tweak to suit.

    This might work for you.

Dup the layer, and put the Turbulent Displace effect on the top layer, animating the Offset(Turbulence). Mask the top layer to isolate the pulses to the power line area.

At the 90’s you will probably need to split the layers and add a new mask to the line.

You can always run the Bulge Effect along the line similarly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll give them a try.
