  • Moving particles in front of and behind a logo

For some reason I am having a brain fart on this. I have a logo that is animated in which is a .png render from cinema4d. i want to take particular and make it move around the logo starting in front and going all around it. it needs to go behind the logo and in front of the logo to simulate it being in 3D space.

I have tried making my logo a 3D object and animating a light to go behind it but the particular layer always stays in front when I try to go behind the logo.

Can anyone think of what I might be doing wrong?

I have included a screenshot. In the screenshot the particles are positioned using the top view behind the logo in 3d space. i shouldnt be able to see anything behind the logo right now. Keep in mind that i also need the smoke to come around later on and pass in front.

Edit: heres the link to the photo. https://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e76/lunchboxx10/NFL.jpg

Particular is a 2d effect that works in AE’s 3d space, so there are things you need to do to make interact with objects in your 3d scenes. I suspect the problem is you haven’t set an obscuration layer, to do this twirl down visibility and set the Obscuration Layer to your logo.
