Moving Matte import – why not?
Guys, I’ve been given a moving matte (the usual, avid-style one, white=transparent black= not transparent etc) and i’m trying to lay it over a peice of video in much the same way as I would in Avid. With still lunimance-based mattes I’ve never had a problem but this moving one seems to just be ignored by FCP – it’ll only ever use the first frame of the clip no matter what effect I try to use on it. My original assumption would be to use Image Mask and just drag the moving matte onto the source box, and indeed my manual suggested this would work (it said I could use any still image or quicktime movie, which to me suggests that a movie would be recognised AS a movie, and therefore import all frames).
I’m rambling now but i’m sure you get the general idea – that’s my problem. Am I going about this the wrong way? Maybe FCP doesn’t like making alpha from moving mattes? Any advice gratefully recieved.
