I’m trying to use a Maxtor firewire drive to move a big pile of files from my PC (winXP) to my Mac.

I hooked the Maxtor one touch to my PC via USB, and the PC says its working fine when I check the device manager, and yet I can’t see it or access it anywhere, except for the device manager.

The Maxtor was formatted on a Mac under OS X, could that be the problem?

    Any ideas?

Use this to access your Mac formatted drive from with your PC: https://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive6//

Also, if you’re PC and Mac are at the same location, just attach an Ethernet or Firewire cable between them and network them together. It’s pretty easy to do.
