    Hi,

I have a problem: I’m trying to move one FCP 4.5 to another machine. The edit on one machine is edited from DVCAM, the material on this machine has been split into several files when captured, on the other machine all have been captured to one big file from digibeta tape (same timecode as the DVCAM tape that was used with te other machine). When I move the project file from the “DVCAM” machine to the “digi” machine my FCP-machine of cause says that it can’t find the media files, and when I reconnect to the one big file the project is all scrambled up, somehow it seems that the media-timecodes are reset or something?

    Any input?

    Thanks,

    Henrik

In order to move a cut from one machine to another, and have the online material link to the offline resolution material, is to bring the project file over, and then re-capture the clips…in their separate broken up form…at the online resolution.

If you have digibeta masters, and strike DVCAM dubs for offline editing…you first batch capture the DVCAM tapes and edit with them. When you are done, you then take you FINAL LOCKED CUT…THE CUT ONLY…to the online machine and capture ONLY the material used in the cut.

They way you have gone about it simply won’t work. It cannot re-link to the digibeta material for the clips aren’t exactly the same. This goes for FCP as well as Avid.
