Every time I start a new project I stare at the “New Project” box and wonder what I should do. I obviously want the project to look and sound the best. I am making corporate training videos to be used inhouse only, not on the internet. Most of the time the videos will be either shown on a large LCD TV or projected on to a large screen via computer. I am shooting AVCHD with a Canon Vixia HF R20 on XP+ 12Mbps at 30i. So what setting should I use in “New Project”? By default 1920×1080 60i shows as highlighted. Do I use that? And what about rendering? I have been using the Internet 1280×720 setting. What should I be using? Previous projects have been looking okay, but can they be better?

    Randy,

Set your project setting to the media you’re using. If it’s 1920, setting should be 1920. You can use the get settings from media file button to be sure. Then if you want to deliver in a different format, change it in the render.

It would help you to understand media formats. Look for some tutorials on youtube to get you started.
It will get easier as you gain understanding. Pretty soon you’ll be answering these questions.
