    Hi,

This may be too general of a question, but i need some advice before diving into my next project. I’m a beginning film student (re: noob) w/ access to to Final Cut Pro v 6.

I’m making a video mash-up wherein i’ll need to rip and import into FC scenes from about 20 DVDs. I plan on ripping w/ HandBrake, converting the mp4 to .mov in quicktime, then importing.

I’ll be using a mix of wide and standard screen DVDs to rip. For instance, I started w/ Rushmore (widescreen) and the Shining (standard?) tonight – here are their picture settings in HandBrake

    Rushmore Shining
    Source: 720×480 720×480
    Output: 720×272 640×480
    Anamorphic: 640×272 strics none

Both had FPS of 23.976 (NTSC)

So my basic question is, how should I be ripping my clips in order to make combine these various films? I suppose it’s fine for the image size to be changing throughout my mashup w/ a black background, if that’s a possibility.

Also, what video/audio settings should I apply to my FC project in order integrate these rips?

Thanks a TON for your advice

    -Vince
