Move title and matte at the same time?
I am used to having the wireframe ability in FCP whereas I could have a title and a cropped colour matte underneath. I could highlight those two and move as one object.
I don’t want to use the “background” attribute of the title tool as if I want to change the colour later I have to click and change each title one-by-one, so a matte is more flexible.
If I want to lock the text and matte together I can only see nesting as an option. That’s not ideal as I don’t want to have a gazillion nests, and if I need to change the text, opening the nested sequence won’t show the underlying video picture I am on.
Can I group my title and matte any other way?

Yes. If I understand you correctly.
After you select them both, just right-click and select “Group”.
