Move FCP files between mac and pc
Im editing MiniDV footage in FCP 4 on a 5 year old titanium powerbook G4, and i have to dump my raw edits onto my friends compac preario tower PC for him to finish my edits in Adobe After Effects 6(?)
I cant afford to buy after effects on my mac, and even if i did, i dont know how to do the effects he can, and we are running short on time, so i dont have time for tutorials at this point.
We have tried exporting my rendered files from final cut using quicktime conversion in various settings, (MPEG-4) (AVI) and (DIVX) all were compressed at terrible settings, which could be my fault, but im not able to export at higher quality settings (unless im doing something wrong)
I found out you can apparently “print to video” “edit to tape” but the problem with that is, my camera, canon ntsc zr45 mini dv, only reads the edited timeline through vtr mode. So i cant figure out how to record the footage in the vtr mode. I tried different settings on the camcorder (im not sure if they were the right ones) and my print to video settings wont allow me to record from my computer, i dont have that option. I cant find it anywhere.
What am i doing wrong? Is it even possible to capture to a minidv tape from final cut pro 4? would you suggest trying to export in a different format and dumping it over that way? printing to video i think would produce a much better quality, but what options do i have? nothing is working!!!

we figured out i can export in quicktime conversion, in the main scroll down menu as an avi file, at best video quality, and the dv/dvc pro settings at the top that are defaulted at cinepec,
we got good enough quality for the video we are making,
professionally, im not sure if this is the way to go but it worked like a charm,however it was a huge file,
6 mins of video only (NO AUDIO) was 1.19gbs, i mean seriously, thats huge.
