Move Clips on the Timeline With Keyboard (as in OPT key in FCP)?
Hi, gang…
One of the many coming over from FCP, and I’d like to be able to move and duplicate clips on the Premiere 6 timelne with the keyboard, a-la holding down the Option key (on a Mac) and using the arrow keys in FCP.
I’d also be able to duplicate a clip with the mouse and option key combination in FCP.
Anything like that with Premiere? Looking for that modifier key, I guess.

You can duplicate a clip by holding down the Option key and then dragging the clip to a new location. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response. It does help indeed.
I haden’t continued to hold down the option key to complete the edit. In FCP you release the option key to do the same function.
I still haven’t figured out how to move a clip up or down on from track to track using the keyboard. Used to do that in FCP with the option key and the up/down arrows.
Any way to do that?

You can change the keyboard shortcuts to FCP style, then in the change keyboard shortcuts pane go to timeline and the option is called “nudge clip up and nudge clip down” you can set it to whatever you like.
