  • Move clip with exact amount of seconds through timecode field

Posted by Allard Depallerd on March 6, 2018 at 10:13 am

    Hi guys..

I know I can use the timecode field in CC to move my playhead an specific amount of seconds on my timeline.
So if I type +31.00… it will move my playhead on my timeline 31 seconds later…

My question is.. Can I do this same technique with a clip selected, so that it moves the clip automatically 31 seconds? (or whatever time i want) (so not just the playhead, but the selected clip (s) aswell.

I think I did this once by accident.. and it would be a usefull feature for my work…

    thanks!

If you have clips selected they will be moved instead of the playhead.

    Thank you for your reply

I must be doing something wrong.. when I select a clip and add some seconds in the timecode window… it’s still the playhead that moves and not the clip…

Are you using “+” or “-” modifiers in front of the time entry?

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2017.1 (as of 8/2017)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from UHD MP4, HD MP4, and HD P2 MXF.

    Yes I am…

I select the clip, then I click in the timecode field, and type something like +31.00

And then just my playhead moves..not the clip…

[Allard DePallerd] “I select the clip, then I click in the timecode field, and type something like +31.00”

When you click the timecode field you’re entering the timecode. Instead of that select the clip, press numpad +, enter the value, press enter.
