Ok so I’ve been having some rather strange problems with .mov files. Whenever i try to interact with them, they seem to crash my computer one way or another. I’ve heard this was to do with quicktime and so I followed the general consensus of installing quicktime 7.1.6 which apparently would fix the problem, it’s only that it hasn’t. I wasn’t sure which forum to post this in but seeing as the only time I ever need to use .mov files is with vegas…

I’m on Vista if that’s of any help by the way. Many thanks..

I’m not sure where you read that but 7.6.2 is the safest version to use with older versions of Vegas. Vegas Pro 9.0e and Movie Studio HD 10 have no problems with the latest Quicktime. Make sure whatever version of Vegas you have that it is up to date.

So far so good, if it continues to work you may consider yourself my new childhood hero. Thanks 🙂

Oh mighty John, I’m yet again in need of your services. Whenever i import an .mov video into Vegas, there’s a lot of loading and waiting around and if I click or try to do anything during this loading period, my computer instantaneously crashes. I used to be able to import just fine and dandy but it seems like every time I try, it crashes; regardless of whether I click/do anything or not. Do you have any suggestions? Is it my computer that’s the problem? And finally, could you recommend any lossless .mov converters for me?

    Many thanks..

Hmmm… what codec do the MOV files use? In the Quicktime player, press Ctrl+I to bring up the Inspector and it will tell you. I assume you are using Quicktime 7.6.2? What version of Vegas?
