Mouse wheel zoom not working in Windows 7
Posted by Ian Smith on December 20, 2009 at 6:51 amI saw a thread about this back when Win7 was still
just a release candidate but there was no resolution to it.Vegas Pro 8 refuses to zoom the timeline in or out with the mouse
wheel in a full production version of Windows 7 Professional.Has anyone figured out how to fix this? Machine is new,
mouse is new, drivers are updated etc etc.. Mouse wheel
works in every other app, except Vegas.Geoff Chandler replied 10 years, 2 months ago 7 Members · 8 Replies -

December 20, 2009 at 12:16 pmI’ve got Vegas 9 and Windows 7 and it all works fine if that’s any help.

December 21, 2009 at 8:29 amUnfortunately doesn’t help.
When I tried Vegas 9, I found it’d crash when using my
usual video codec that works fine in 8 (ffdshow’s
version of Xvid, which I need to work with a particular
DVR file format), so it doesn’t do many any good to upgrade to
Vegas 9, to fix the mouse problem, and then not be able to
render anything.ian

December 21, 2009 at 3:06 pmI know this doesn’t help you either but my mouse wheel works fine in Vegas Pro 9.0c and Windows 7 64-bit. It should work right out-of-the-box so for most people there is nothing to “fix”. There is something about your setup that is not right. Unfortunately, only you can find it. There is no option to turn this on or off.
I do not have any mouse software loaded. I’m just using whatever drivers Windows 7 had for my Logitech MX510. Perhaps your mouse software is getting in the way?

December 26, 2009 at 5:02 pmYour mouse is not only a zoom but a scroll so I would try it in another program like MWord or such and see if that works. Also I would check to see the systems settings on your mouse to be sure it is correct. Try another mouse?? Just maybe.

May 15, 2010 at 2:27 amI’m having the exact same problem. New install of Vegas 9 pro (latest version) and Microsoft mouse. Scroll wheel does not “expand” time line.

May 15, 2010 at 2:48 amI just got my Microsoft Laser Mouse (wireless) 6000 to work expanding the time line. I downloaded the MS Intellipoint software for my mouse. Then I went into the mouse configuration mode, and designated the scroll wheel to “zoom in.” That did it. Whew.

May 31, 2010 at 6:29 pmI had the same problem with the Microsoft Laser Mouse 8000. I figured out, it can be fixed by going to the IntelliPoint settings and choosing another mouse profile (such as “Basic Mouse”).

February 28, 2016 at 10:47 pmI had the problem with Vegas 10 Pro when I got a new Microsoft mouse (which I like way better then my Logitech). I searched for and downloaded “intellimouse” as suggested above. Then opened the software and checked “enable program specific settings.” That did the trick.
