    Hi there,

I am using After Efects 6.0 Pro and I am trying to motion track my eye on this piece of footage. It tracks it perfectly, but when I set the Motion Target to my flame layer, it tracks the footage, but not on the eye itself. Then when I reposition the flame layer over my eye, it moves right back into the original position which is far from the eye. I then have to go through every frame and position it over the eye. It gets really old after awhile. Is there anyway to reposition it to track the actual eye instead of going frame by frame? Thanks for any help.

    Hey!

What I would do is make a new null object first. (Layer>New>Null Object) Then you can apply the results of your motion tracking to the null object instead of the eye layer. (In the Tracker Controls panel, click the button for “Edit Target” and change the target layer to the new null you created.) Position your eye layer to be where it’s supposed to be on the first frame, and then parent your eye layer to the null object.

That should about do it! (Thanks Andrew Kramer!)

    Oops!

To avoid confusion, when I said eye layer in my previous post, I really meant your flame layer. That is, whatever layer you’re trying to attach to that eye should be parented to the null.
