Motion “Strobe” effect in FCP template
I’m using the Motion “Strobe” effect in a template in which I want some movement (source video or other animation) to not update every frame. For example let’s say I only want the movement to update 10 or 15 times per second I apply the effect in the template and set the “Strobe Rate” parameter to 10 or 15. It previews and exports from Motion as expected but in FCP the movement seems to (inconsistently but frequently) stutter back and forth – it looks like the update rate isn’t just changing but I’m even seeing some frames in the wrong order etc…. This seems to be true even if I make a simple test template with only the strobe effect and the problem is apparent on source video and also some motion generated shapes or patterns animating.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to do this in a way that it will work as expected within FCP ?
And a second question is ; Is there another way (a standard built in FCP way) to get video to update at less than the frame rate in FCP ? Thanks for any replies.
