    Hi,

In AE CS4, is there a way I can reverse the motion playback of my composite? I want it to play, pause then play backward. I’ve done this in Avid, but I’d like to keep all of my effects in AE for this project if I can. I know in Avid, you do a negative 100% motion effect and it will play backward. I’m assuming this is a simple thing here too.

    Thanks for your help,
    Scott

One option would be Time Remapping.

there is also layer>time>time reverse, which will simply play the footage layer or nested comp backwards.

if you wanted a pingping loop. the time remapping with a loopOut() expression like this:

    loopOut(‘pingpong’)

will make a footage layer or nested comp continuously play forward then backwards for as long as the comp or layer duration is.

that expression will also work on keyframed properties… say you have a layer that moves left to right, and you want it to continue to go back and forth, if you apply that expression to the position property, it will bounce back and forth for as long as the layer is….
