Hi there. I recently moved all my Motion library to another drive, and I reset the path in preferences. Now all the 3rd party plugins don’t show. Things like Random Fade for text don’t show. They were there before but now are gone. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you saying you moved Motion to another computer?

No, sorry I should have been more clear.

I had all my filters, templates, behaviours, etc on an external drive in a folder named “Final Cut Studio Extras”. I moved the whole folder to another hard drive and changed the path in Motion’s preferences to match the new location (New Hard Drive/Final Cut Studio Extras).

The behaviour I’m looking for is for text, “Random Fade”. I don’t know if it was a 3rd party plugin or not, but nonetheless I can no longer find it.

    Thanks.

Are you talking about the Fade In Random Behavior?

On your desk top, hit the Command (apple) and F keys. Type in Fade In Random.molo and see if it is still on your computer.

Yes, its there on my external drive. Fade in Random.molo. Its there with other text behaviours in a folder called Hard Drive/Library/Behaviors/Text Sequence/Text-Fade.

If its any help, I tried to open it with Motion and got the error message “The document Fade in Random.molo could not be opened”

and if it makes any difference, there is also nothing under “Live Fonts” in the library in Motion.

Okay, I’ve never used Motion off of anything but the systems disk. The Behavior should be in:
Library, Application Support, Final Cut Studio, Motion, Library, Behaviors, Text Sequence, Text Fade.

Are all of the other Fade Behaviors like “Blur Fade In” working? And if yes, are they in the same place as the Fade In Random.molo?

For some reason when I moved it from one external drive to another it lost the ability to see it. So I just did a clean re-install on FCS and now its working. Thanks for all the info, I’ll keep it on the main drive from here on out.

    Thanks again.
