  motion-photoshop-illustrator…they don’t mesh! NEED HELP!!!

  just got motion 3 and when i import illustrator or photoshop files they don’t import as layers they come in as flatened images. how do i import these ai/psd files into motion and keep their layers? and how do i do it without a plug-in??? and if i do need to buy a plug-in can anyone point me in the direction of a cheap one? thanks.
