  • Motion Keeps Crashing while exporting…

Posted by Damon Hoydysh on July 15, 2005 at 4:50 pm

I’m trying to export my project as a quicktime movie, and it crashes about half way through every time. I’ve trashed my Motion Prefs, but it’s still crashing.

I’m running Motion 1.0.1 on Mac OSX .4.2

    Any suggestions?

    1. How much space is available on the hard drive?
    2. Have you tried exporting using different settings?

Each of my drives have about 25 gigs to spare.

    The project is only 300mb.

I have not tried any other settings, but I need it full res NTSC DV.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Damon

If you’re going to Final Cut or Compressor, try using the Motion project file instead. Otherwise, try rendering to the animation codec which is better than NTSC DV. As long as your project isn’t too long, it shouldn’t take long to render in the app you import it into.

If that doesn’t work, let us know.

Thanks, I’ll try that. Is the animation considered a good codec or form of compression?

    Hey Damon,

Animation is essentially lossless, so it’s typically used as the “high-quality” format.
