I’ve got a bunch of chroma key talking heads in my FCP seq. I layered them with background elements on V1, heads on V2, then selected them and used Send to Motion, embedding the Motion project in the FCP timeline. In Motion, I used DV Matte Blast to chroma key. All looks good. But when I come back to FCP, the keys aren’t operative, whether or not I render! What’s going on? Is it that DVMatte Blast needs Motion’s features to render? When rendering an embedded Motion project in the timeline, is the system using Motion or FCP to render?

    Any insights would be appreciated.

    FCP 5.0.4, Motion 2.0.1, G5 2.5 GHz Quad, 4.5 Gb RAM, OS 10.4.4

    Peace,

More info: this wasn’t a problem with the DVMatte Blast demo. That’s the one variable that changed.

Inexplicably, this problem seems resolved. I went back to the fact that this occurred after updating dvMatte Blast from demo to full version. I deleted the plug-in and re-installed it. That didn’t fix everything immediately, but when I restarted FCP today, the embedded sequences were as they should be. Hooray.

Lesson: delete the demo version of this plug-in before installing the paid version. Then enjoy!

    Peace,
    Liane
