A VERY UNHAPPY MAC DEDICATED USER, EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH SLOW-MOTION :

I’ve been trying to use Motion v1.0.1 unsuccessfully for 10 days and I am now expected to pay for an upgrade for a product that didn’t work in the first place.

I am extremely disappointed after having been persuaded to purchase this product by an Apple salesperson who assured me that this was the ‘After-Effects’ killer application after showing me the on-screen ‘flying’ graphics demonstration at the Apple store UK. My graphics look nothing like this, even after taking it into an Apple store to ask why; I expected sharp, high def images as with the Apple demo but am getting a compressed, interlaced DV-looking file.

by the way who makes the Apple demo graphics YOU SEE IN THE PROMO AND THE STORE AND WEB see the new flash display on the WEB for apple https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/ do they use final cut pro and motion ANYONE HAVE THE ANS

Can anyone resolve the points below encountered using Motion, otherwise I will HAVE TO SWITCH to After-Effects or Combustion as I have no faith in the upgrade solving the problems

    1. Extremely slow – even though I am running THE CROWN JEWELS a G5,2dp, 4G RAM, NVIDIA Card GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, LACIE 1tb HD with 30′ Display

    2. Continual crashing of the program and on export
    3. No audio playback when trying to sync text to markers
    4. Movie files growing in size by 4-5 frames when exporting .MOV file back into Final Cut Pro HD

    5. Playback of text sequences are erratic
    6. Scrolling text sequences are not smooth – having bought Motion to overcome this problem within Final Cut Pro

    7. Quality of exported files are not Broadcast quality despite using high def codac and animation codac lostless when viewed on an external reference pro-monitor

I would of expected this from a PC running Microsoft … BUT NOT APPLE

I am obviously feeling ripped-off at this point; I’ve been taken for a ride with the Newton, been taken for a ride with .Mac, but I’ve let that slide – this is is the last straw; surely there must be a law against selling a product which claims no rendering, smooth playback, never having to stop the flow of your work, but delivers something completely different – a dead end, deadlines not met, job lost and sleepless nights.

    MR UNHAPPY 🙁

    G5 Dp2 / POWERBOOK 17′ …… 30′ Display …. LACIE 2Tb HD ; Mac OS X (10.3.7); 4G RAM / 1G RAM …. NVIDIA Card GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL,

I am running motion 1.0.1 with DV media only

    ok here is the problem

i’m working in FCP with a 5 min timeline i’ve exported five 30sec clips .mov files to the hard drive

(i,m working this way as I have to move MEDIA to another post edit site that does not have motion on board so when i export the fx i drop it onto FCP TL and off we go and if i’m not there others can use and see the fx media without motion)

I am using the MOTION template (Glass panes- open) as my guide
i’ve import DV file to replace the mt boxes, i’ve made the project dv pal ani 16.9

I need to add text to sync to the audio ,,,,,,,as you do….

now this is where all hell breaks loose hahah

so far motion graphics looks cool and sexy, a little stop and start but i get the idea i render to ram for a better look, still a bits of a hic up but alot better than b4

so back to work , need to sync text up to audio cue (

Well, if you are working in DV, why are you trying to render to uncompressed????
Also try to just import your motion file into fcp and put in the timeline and render it there.
It sounds as if you have some setting set incorrectly or something. I have been runnign motion on a much less powerful machine with very few problems. I am thinking it is either opporator error(settings) or you might have other applications installed that have messed up your ssytem( a-la classic extension conflicts)

Oh, a CODEC. That’s different. I thought you were talking about CODACs.

QT7 H.264? I thought you were dealing with DV.
