I have to do a swish pan in an edit and I want to add motion blur to the pan and have it shut off after the motion is complete. Right now I have it set up where I just had to make an edit and seperate the two portions of the clip so that the part with the move has the motion blur and the rest of the clip does not. Is there any way to keyframe the motion blur, or have it shut off entirely? I have to change the source footage very often as I get renders from my companies 3d department and having to make these cuts every time is a bit much. If anyone knows a way around this, I’d love some suggestions. Thanks.

The Motion blur parameter in the Motion Tab cannot be keyframed. Digital HEaven makes a Whip Pan plugin for FCP, I think it’s only $5.00.

    google digital heaven.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

You used to be able to do that in FCP 4-FCP HD Bogie. Not available in the Motion Tab, but in the Keyframe Editor (Clip Keyframes Mode-underneath the clip) you can get a ramp for percentage of blur that appears to be keyframable.

Unfortunately it is not working right now. Used to be way cool.

Hey, I’m gonna be up in Seattle doing a seminar this weekend. You should come on in and take it. Gonna be some rocket science going on…sign up at fcpworld.com or sfcutters.org.
