I created a animation in cinema 4d and had it create a motion file. I open the motion file in motion 5 and save it as a motion 5 file then try to export it as a template and i get the following error followed by a crash every time.

Unable to copy “/Volumes/Data/ipad_anim/ipad_anim0000.tif” to project media directory “/Users/mikeh/Movies/Motion Templates.localized/Compositions.localized/Go4Cast/ipad_anim/Media/ipad_anim[####].tif:0:475/ipad_anim0000.tif”

crash report starts off like this

    Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000

Looks like it’s having trouble with the image sequence. You might try turning the image sequence into a movie in Quicktime and replacing with the the movie, then saves as an FCP X generator.

That did the trick Mark, thanks.. Any idea why motion doesn’t like the image sequences ?

I don’t think Motion is the issue, I think it has more to do with saving it as a Smart Template for FCP X – something to do with the naming structure.
