This is totally random, but I closed my recent motion project and noticed a mess of files that I used in it. I put those files in a folder like one should, then tried to reopen the project and it asked to reconnect like it should. I reconnected 1 shot and it goes to the motion interface but I cannot click on anything..getting those beeps that make me want to punch my computer…

The reconnect option is greyed out and I have to force quit.

Basically you would think you could manually reconnect the source media just like FCP? But it’s not letting me do that, unfortunately.

If I return the files to the original place where I inserted them into motion the project works fine. But my desktop is in shambles…

You should be able to reconnect files if you move them somewhere else, I do it on a regular basis. Not sure what to suggest without seeing what you are doing except for trashing your prefs.

literally just taking the mess on the desktop and putting it into a folder…on the desktop. Should be straight forward. And the program is a fresh install as of 5 weeks ago. I would think it would be similar to FCP?

ANyway I’ll try to trash prefs but will give the cow a little more time to maybe find the answer…

Are you selecting the correct file to relink to? Files that don’t match the specific file it is starting with will be greyed out and unselectable.

Yes I click either search files or reconnect either way it goes to the interface but does not allow me to select anything and just keeps beeping at me!!!

It looks like the media is there and if I press space bar it goes through the playing area but no resopnse when clicking anything with the mouse…

perhaps the restore from autosave option?

Also went to look for the preferences and they are different than my macbook pro and in another location…isn;t there something I can download for deleting prefs?
