It is very manga-like. Which makes sense.

If you rent the DVD of “Watchmen”, they do something similar to this in the “Animated comic book” bonus feature. Much like animatics we’d rough together for an advertising pitch.

Apparently “Pages” is a couple of years old, but that’s an SF Hugo award-winning entry if I ever saw one. Follow the links underneath at youtube for the other two parts.

Beautiful framing sense, I liked the pacing and rythms. I like how much is inferred without having to show it. The FX composites are (to me) very well done and you just accept them all as real.

Ever heard of light field photography? Here’s a cool link: https://graphics.stanford.edu/papers/lfcamera/

Yes, Richard, seen that before; it would eb neat to cople that toa RED camera, wouldn’t it? Very powerful in post.

I also have wondered if you couldn’t use this principle to make a sort of chromakey effect, by telling the plenopticon camera: “Just ignore/don’t record everything past N distance in the z-axis”. How cool would THAT be?
