Mosaic limited to certain colors
My goal is this: to turn video into a mosaic that I can recreate with 1×1 lego blocks.
So, I apply a mosaic effect to video, and it makes the video all blocky – which I want. I’m eventually going to take that video frame by frame and recreate each frame by putting legos on a baseplate and taking a still picture of the legos (from the top looking down on the legos).
Here’s the problem, when I apply the mosaic effect (I’m using the TMTS Free mosaic plugin), the resulting mosaic contains colors that don’t exist as lego blocks. I’d like to create a mosaic that is limited to a certain set of colors that I can define – the colors of actual lego blocks.
I applied “vector colorize” effect before the Mosaic effect – this allowed me to limit the mosaic to four colors, but it’s not really good enough.
Any ideas?
The solution wouldn’t have to be in Final Cut either, it could incorporate Photoshop (or Gimp), after effects or anything else really. The cheaper/freer the software and plugins the better.
