It’s definitely a particle generator and it’s more definitely done in a 3D application. You may want to have a look at Digital Element’s Aurora Sky for something similar. It’s supposed to support the use of grayscale images as displacement and bump maps for clouds. There is a possibility that it’ll be able to do a similar effect with clouds. Thanx a lot RoRK and Steve, and I’m sorry for the wrong URL :). Anyway it doesn’t seem an easy job to make at home, at least not when liquids (and gravity) are involved, but it seems an easier job with clouds… I’m really eager to try :).
