A) If the audio was recorded at proper levels in the first place, the OP wouldn’t have to raise the level more than 12db.
B) That gain filter? It’s on the mixer/camera. Shouldn’t need it in FCP.
If Apple sat around and wrote code to correct all of the F-ups that people make in the field, we’d still be on version 1. Want to avoid all these workarounds? DO IT RIGHT IN THE FIELD.

August 9, 2006 at 12:31 amTrue, but take that same footage that you didn’t have anything to do with acquisition into the most professional audio recording studio in the world, and their mixer is still only going to crank it up about 12db. Beyond that, you’ll have to run it through a compressor or re-amp it to bring up the level.
