hello there. does anyone know if theres a way to change the distance the light from a light source travels?
ive got a spot light source shing on my 3d layer, but the angle its at is lighting something up that wouldnt be lit up (if it was actually a mile or so away as im trying to make it look, rather than the thousands of pixels it actually is)
i dont want to change my angle, so im wondering if theres a way to just make the light not go so far? like in reality where the further you are from a light source the weaker it is?
    cheers.

i don’t think you can set fall off like that for a spot light within the light settings (at least not in cs3), but here is a link to how to do it with an expression on the 3d layer that you want affected by the fall off…

    Scripts! Run for you life!
Kevin’s suggestions are always more elegant than anything I can come up with but I was going to merely suggest you mask off the light with a gobo, an intervening and perhaps moving element that blocks light but does not cast a shadow.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
