More external Monitor Issues
Hello. I have 2 minor issues that I don’t know the answer too.
1. I am editing something that was shot in 16X9 and the monitor is squeezing it to fit in 4X3. Is there a way to view it on the monitor as 16X9? Perhaps a menu setting in the monitor itself? I haven’t seen anything.
2. The monitor is out of sync. I cut on beat a lot, so it’s noticeable to me there, and when someone is speaking. It’s in sync in final cut though. How can I get the monitor in sync with final cut.

1. No, you need a pro monitor to preview 16:9 in real time.
2. Ideally, you should hook up the speaker to the deck and monitor sound and picture from there. Try that.Kevin Monahan

So you can add a LETTERBOX filter to the sequence and remove it after. Or you can by an aspect ration converter like a Pico Link by Miranda:

If you look at the reference monitor, make sure that the audio doesn’t come out of the Mac output but out of you DV deck ou video interface like the video you reference to.
