  • Monitoring HDV via HVR-Z1U for FCP5

Posted by Francois Driessen on September 6, 2005 at 2:18 pm

    Hi there.
Anyone out there managed to set up the Sony HVR-Z1U and FCP5 to monitor HDV through the camera?
I see the HDV options in FCP AVsettings for Video Playback, but they are non-active. Tried setting the Z1 to forced 1080i VCR mode instead of AUTO, but this still does not make the HDV video playback options active. Any advice floating around the pasture?

Shane’s Stock Answer #25 – HDV external Monitor Viewing

To view HDV on an external monitor you are going to need to purchase a capture card, like the ones Decklink offers. They have this to say:

“Blackmagic DeckLink v5.0 includes a host of new features including full support for all the new features in Final Cut Pro HD
