  • Monitoring HD on Cinema display help

Posted by Tim Silva on April 12, 2005 at 3:06 pm

After reading the the 16×9 SD editing thread below, I thought this would be a good time to post my question about viewing HD on my Apple 30″ Cinema display.

I have a new M100HD system. I’m outputing video via the SD1 BNC conector on the M100HD box to a HDLink Blackmagic box which sends video to the Apple display.
In M100HD Preferences “Video Output” if I select HD out of SDI 2 that’s the only way I can fill the image on the Cinema display and then it blows it up and crops the image. And I also lose my SD component monitor.

How can I display a full screen HD image in the proper proportions on the Cinema display and also view my SD component image on my SD monitor?

    Thanks

    Tim

If you have connected your BMD box to the SDI1 out you should be able to set up your HD out on SDI 1. As far as I know the HDLink does not work with 30″ cinema displays correctly, only with the 23″.

    This should not happen.

If you select HD on SDI2, you can’t have SD on any of the analog outputs.

Yes, I understand. Bottm line – BlackMagic-Design tells me the HDLink box will not work properly with the 30″ display. I’m looking for a solution.

I have one for you. Send me your 30″ and you will get a nicely working 23″ for us. Perfect for HD monitoring 😉

Sorry… the 30″ is so pretty it looks nice even when it’s black.
