  • Modify FCP clip after roundtrip to STP or Motion

Posted by Anmol Mishra on September 26, 2012 at 1:09 pm

    I am using FCP7 in FCS3.
When use a roundtrip and send to Motion or STP, the stap or motn file replaces the original clip in my timeline.
I have a format problem with Cineform, essentially FCP interprets all my Cineform clips as Upper Field instead of None Field Dominance.

Is there a way I can access the underlying clips and re-render after changing the Format -> Field Dominance to None ?

I noticed that this causes some stair stepping artifacts otherwise.

make sure the Cineform clips shows as Progressive (NONE) in FCs Browser before dragging them to the time-line. Th e time-line must be NONE too, and the Motion project the same.

Unfortunately many of these projects were created before I knew this..
I have the project settings as None.
Is there a way to access the clips in round tripped project to change their settings ?

    no idea.
the best solution when having problems round tripping is to export a self contained movie from Motion.
