Hi guys, I have to bring my tracks down to separate M & E tracks for DVD tranfer to digibeta. Is there a tutorial to do this somewhere? I have to bring in the dialog on two tracks and music and effects on two tracks. I did this before a couple of years ago but can’t figure it out again! Please help deadline looms!

You can’t magically separate elements from a stereo mix. Just like you can’t take purple paint and separate it into red and green paint. You need the stems that existed prior to the audio mix

Agreed. Maybe I was not clear. I have my dialog on tracks1-6. I have my music and sound effects on tracks 7-25. I have to bring them down to separta M & E tracks for mastering for overseas dubbing. They need 4 tracks. 2 dailog and 2 music and sound effects. I did this last year when someone there helped me walk through it.

I use nested sequences to accomplish this.

Is there a tutorial for this? I really appreciate it. I have tried to research it online but there is nothing for page after page

In FCP 6.0.3, click on “Help” and select “Final Cut Pro User Manual.” Read pages 826 and 828.
