Please help guys! I’ve never done this before but I really need to for a client.

I need to mix footage from a Sony DCR-TRV280 with an HVR-V1U. I’ve tried all sorts of render settings and still get a widescreen rectangular picture for the HDV cam and a square picture for the handycam. Please give me detailed instructions on how I can mix these two for a picture that is consistant. Oh yes, I am editing on a PC.

    Thanks in advance.

Make sure your project properties are set to “NTSC DV (720×480, 29.970 fps)” (or PAL if applicable).
When you drop an HDV clip on the timeline, open the Pan/Crop window, right-click in the middle of it and select “Match Output Aspect”.
This instantly crops the sides of the HDV clip so that it now matches your regular footage.
    Repeat as necessary.
You can pan left or right on the clip if there’s something specific that must be seen in the final project.
