Mixing DVCPRO and XDCAM codecs… the best way?
Here’s my challenge: find the right codec to convert the following footage to a common format for multi-cam editing in Final Cut:
DVCPRO HD 1080p30 1280×1080
DVCPRO HD 720p60 960×720
XDCAM EX 1080p24 1920×1080I would like all the footage to resemble 24p as much as possible. Obviously, my XDCAM EX footage is already there and looking great. Unfortunately I had two HVX200 shooters who didn’t follow instructions and shot in the other two formats listed.
I’m not familiar with the HVX formats. Both of them say they are progressive, but they appear interlaced to my eye (forking of motion in frame). Do I need to de-interlace them, and if so, what method do you recommend?
My hunch here is to convert everything to ProRes 1280×720, but was hoping to hear from some HVX people. Thanks for your help!
