Mixing DV and HDV in FCP timeline
Hi Everyone
I was wondering if anyone knows of any links, YouTube vids or blogs that might outline a ‘fail-safe’ workflow to:
* capture DV video into FCP as Apple ProRes 422 so that it can be successfully edited along with HD ‘Apple ProRes 422’ footage (am thinking here that I can ensure the DV ‘fields’ could be fixed from the very outset, during the capture process)
* apply shiftfield/deintelace filters if needs be to the mixture of DV ‘ProRes 422’ and HDV ‘ProRes 422’ in the timeline to ensure a top quality Quicktime export
* export to quicktime
* use this quicktime file to convert to m2v and ac3 using Compressor
* burn to disc with DVD Studio Pro
Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated.
To try to burn a DVD as best possible quality which includes a mixture of DV PAL and HD PAL, I’ve fiddled and tinkered with the settings in my FCP, Compressor and DVD SP to no avail, and keep resorting to using the ‘Progressive’ setting in DVD SP to burn DVDs, which isn’t the best possible quality.
I’ve tried the shift field filter and deinterlacing and burn-tested lots of DVD samples and previewed on an interlaced television with a DVD player but just get myself completely lost in the process. Despite the kind assistance of some gentlemen on the Creative Cow forum I’m afraid I’ve hit a brick wall despite their, and my, best efforts.
Again, all tips or advice will be accepted with open arms.
All the best.
Peter
