  Mixing audio for film/video vs mixing music for CD

  I have a long background in music production and mixing, but I am looking for any tips or insight to help me with my video/film mixing.

  In the music world, everything is loud, compressed, in-your-face.

  So when I mix for video, I still get that “got to hear everything” tendency. Dialog, sfx, foley, music, etc. I do my best not compress or over-compress too much, but playback on TV’s always seems to still be “right-up-front”.

  I do know all the in’s and out’s of frequencies, panning, and such….

  Im just curious if there are any tips from anyone who has made the same transition.

  Do TV’s and home theater systems compress signals even more? How to anticipate this compression, or signal manipulation, and compensate for it while mixing?
