I am working on some animations that will be delivered 1080i, 29.97 uncompressed Tiff quicktimes.

I am scaling them down to 720×486 anamorphic to give to the offline editor.

I am doing quick HD reviews of them rendered with the DVCProHD codec.

They play back beautifully with the Kona AJA VTR XChange application. I’ve had problems with the play back when they are in Final Cut though.
Would this be because my comp is 1920×1080, but DVCPro comps are 1280×1080?
In quicktime’s info window, these animations SAY they are 1280×1080, but they actually appear to be 1920×1080.

Am I confusing Final Cut? Or am I confusing Quicktime or AE by working an HDTV comp but rendering in a DVCPro setting?

If so, why would they play back fine in XChange or in Blackmagic’s Deck Control app, but not in final cut?

Is there a different process I should be doing if I want to view my HDTV comps as DVCPro renders? Should I be precomping all of them into an HDDVCPro comp (please say no!)?

    thanks!

I was just wondering if there was something inherently wrong with what I was doing.
As I mentioned, Final Cut was not working with those DVCProHD animations and I was thinking that maybe this was the reason why.
Luckily, I AM able to proceed with my project…I just am still trying to troubleshoot that FCP thing.
    Thanks..
