Mix interlaced SD and XDCAM EX 1080p footage for broadcast purpose
Greetings!
I´ve searched and read a lot, but still have a doubt about this, so i´ve decided to ask for the forum a reasonable workflow for a big proyect i´m starting now.
Working in PPro CS6 (6.0.5). I have a heavy 6 chapter 43 min.each documentary proyect to deliver in XDcam HD .mxf 50i (UFF)for broadcast. Footage is different scanning modes and resolutions from several sources:
Cam footage is XDCAM EX 1080 25p 1:1 PAR
Archive footage is a mix of 576 50i UFF and LFF, and different PAR, 1,09:1 for 4/3 and 1,458:1 for 16/9.
Also i have digital Betacam footage captured in Avid and exported in Avid codec with no field information (Mediainfo says its interlaced but Premiere don´t recognice fiel order, unknown field order he says)I have a Blackmagic Decklink Mini Monitor connected to a Dell U2413, so theoretically I have to select a Blackmagic preset for my sequence, although if i create an XDCAM EX sequence from Premiere presets it still works and output fine my timeline to the external monitor.
Working in a progressive sequence means that i have to deinterlace all interlaced footage, and as i don´t like PPro deinterlacing methods i had to use Red Gian Frames o similar, but if i need a 50i .mxf export, don´t think is a good idea.
I´ve concluded that the best is to open an interlaced sequence and drop in it all the footage, as interlaced footage will be fine (although some of it will need to be field dominace changed) and progressive will work fine too, but not sure about this, as
i´ll be dynamic linking clips and sequences to After Effects compositions, who only work in progressive mode, and i´ll be creating animated titles moving around that in my experience don´t work good in interlaced sequences. So my big question is: which sequence preset to choose and best workflow to deal with all this different types of footage to ensure my final export in mentioned codec and format for bradcast will work fine?
Thank you all folks, i´ll appreciate so much your help
Regards
