    Hi there,

Sorry if this sounds really simple to do, but I don’t know how to do it (or even if it’s possible for it to be done in Vegas 8!)

I’m trying to achieve that ‘look’ similar in style to Missy Elliott’s ‘Beep me 911’/ Busta Rhymes ‘Woo Haa!!!’ – it’s the one where they look as if they’re slightly speeded up, but in synchronisation to the music.

Is this an effect that is captured at the time of shooting, or can this be achieved in Vegas 8? I’ve tried using the velocity tool, and using ‘CTRL’ and dragging the end of the clip, but none seem to do what I want them to do.

It’s almost as if, to speed things up, some frames have been removed, but the video left to play for the same time, resulting in that ‘sped up’ look.

Am I making any sense to anyone?!? Hopefully someone understands what I’m talking about and can offer me some advise?

    Warmest regards to you all!

    Brian

See if this works for you.
Right-click the video clip, select Properties and lower the Undersample rate.
Try 0.25 as a starting point and adjust up or down as desired.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the advice. I tried lowering the undersample rate, and while it does indeed reduce the frame rate the video then becomes ‘jerky’.

I’ve tried a combination of increasing the playback rate and lowering the undersample rate, which is sorta giving me the effect I want, but it’s still not the effect if you see what I mean.

    Thanks again Mike!

Take a look at Pixelan CreativeEase for the StepTime 2 plug-in. This will give you the look of missing frames. You could then just speed that up in time to the music.
