Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy missing source

IN my FCP browser i captured some clips and when i reopened the project ther day after, some clips has lost their source ( the original place of the QT on a drive). instead of the normal path (EX: macHD/document/capture scratch/…) it is only written ( *is missing)
I’m working with external drives, and my media(capture scratch) are on the external drive.
It is quite a problem to reconnect or to find the media when FCP doesn’t remember the path…
What can cause that or why?

    Thank you

If you capture media, then move it…FCP has NO CLUE where it is. If you know where it is, note the path and then tell FCP where to find it.

Media Management in FCP is not good. It knows where it put things, but if you move it, or change it’s name in the Finder, or change the name of the folder or the hard drive or ANYTHING on that path and FCP loses the connection.

    thank you,
But it supposed to remember the path even if you disconnect the external drive. Of course my media will be offline but still in the source column it should remember the path i gave it to him at the first time….
Because now he just don’t remember at all where he put it the first time, not even the beginning of a path.
Personnally it’s the first time I see this.
